ASTM A193 grade is a single grade and a whole family of variety possessing unique and significant features. Every grade has a distinct variation in terms of strength along with chemical attributes. They were introduced in the industry for various application, and they indistinguishable places. However, there are two most popularly used grades known as ASTM A193 Grade B7 Bolt and ASTM A193 Grade B8 Bolt. Molybdenum and chromium steel unit is used for the production and is set with the treatment of heat to create wished mechanical features, especially the strength of A193 Grade B7 Bolt. Even the threaded stuff is manufactured by this method. 

Construction is the most favoured industry for the use of Grade B7. Headed bolts along with threaded stuff B7 are not difficult to find in the market. Connections of pipe flanges have the prime use of B7 Bolts Grade. The bolts are usually traded (buy and sell) basic, usually having a coating that serves corrosion resistance. Coatings of PTFE, Xylan or Teflon coatings along with zinc platting and hot-dip galvanization. But here, the coating of the bolt barely stands against the corrosion at extreme temperature compared to uncoated bolts.

ASTM A193 Grade B8 bolts, produced using 304 AISI Stainless Steel and threaded stuff as well. 304 Fastener being among the most used grades in the industry, the manufacturing for this austenite SS grade needs treatment based on carbide solution on the bars for the threads or can also be done following the head operation and forged heads for the bolts. Treatment based on the solution of carbide is performed for the assurance of high resistance towards corrosion. This is undertaken where stainless steel bars or fasteners are usually heated along with water quenching, and this procedure is also known as solution annealing.

Class 2 A193 Grade B8 Bolts are also conducted under a similar operation after which they are strain hardened, succeeding the treatment of carbide solution, which is explicitly performed for enhancement of strengthening characteristics and galling potential reduction. ‘B8SH’ is the typical marking platted on the grade, also known as a symbol. Particularly valves, pressure containers are the applications having demand for ASTM A193 Bolts and industries with daily extreme pressure procedures.
